About the Heralds
Celebrating over 75 years!
The Tampa Bay Heralds of Harmony Chorus has been entertaining Florida audiences in the Barbershop style for over 75 years. The Tampa Chapter is part of the Barbershop Harmony Society and consists of more than 40 men who share in the enjoyment of singing. Unaccompanied by instruments, Barbershop music is a unique American art form with four-part close harmony which produces "ringing" chords. The growth of the music style was enhanced by the types of songs popular between the 1860s and 1920s – songs with sentimental lyrics and simple melodies that made harmonizing easy.
In their performances, the Heralds of Harmony try to preserve the long-standing tradition of Barbershopping while including today's exciting melodies. The unique four-part Barbershop sound is enjoyed by young and old.
In the last twenty-five years, the Heralds have achieved national acclaim, winning State contests and placing near the top in International competition. The Chorus placed 6th in the world in their last International competition in July 2018 held in Orlando.
The Heralds of Harmony perform throughout the year for major social, civic, community and charitable events throughout West Central Florida and offer quartet entertainment for a wide range of audiences including businesses, service and social organizations, and the Tampa Bay Community.
In addition to providing an enjoyable and enriching opportunity for men to engage in the performing arts, the Tampa Chapter supports several charitable organizations in its community outreach each year.
